Computer Science 1011A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 5: Hypertext Transfer Protocol, Hypertext
Document Summary
Back to html: we have a basic understanding of markup tags which tell the computer what to do; css and javascript. The browser goes through the html one character at a time and does exactly what it says. Now we are going to look at links and the hyperlinks within the same page. We are going to be able to link within website and to other websites. To link, we are going to use the html tag anchor ex. you can link within the same page: put a pinpoint within same page. Using anchor two ways: here is where we put pinpoint (where we are going in document) and here is where we will have an html of reference to jump from there. Now: jumping from one point of a page to another ex. Reference point (where you are coming from): href is where its jumping from.
