Set up a case for why it"s worth studying. May seem that the door is important and shows that puritans have controlled, but in reality the weeds are growing through it and they cannot control things. Narration starts out by praising hester, but then soon and later turns his back on her and narrator speaks poorly of her, as if he"s afraid. Hawthorne"s larger aim is prevent a single interpretation. Take something separate and fit it onto this work. Provide a stance that one critic has taken, and then offer another way to see. Go against what the critics are saying and provide your own theories and it ideas. Obviously don"t bash someone that"s come before you, understand what they"re saying and then speak your mind (e. g. imagine you"re at a dinner party) Start with an outline still: idea of thesis, points. Make sure you know what you want the ending to say.
