Critical thinking is the means by which we protect ourselves. Form causes an affect (ex: rhyming can be humorous i. e. lady playing harp with chin, book of nonsense). If a text is paraphrased and keeps it"s meaning, it"s not literature. Literature is a marriage of form and content. Form is as, if not more, important than content. Form is word choice and diction, word sound, metre and rhyme, stanzaic/paragraph form, generic form (ballad, satire, novel, play), typographical features, media or publication form. This be the verse: first line is bold, shocking, straight forward, plain spoken. *denotation: man, guy- simplest meaning of a word or term. Connotation: beyond simple identification of an idea, action, or thing. Good authors will be aware of the particular connotation that is associated with their choice of word: second line softens, takes an emotional turn. Get out as early as you can, and don"t have any kids yourself. brings back casual voice (full circle).
