The book is fun to read aloud. Has the same quality as nursey rhymes that it is easily memorisable. Puritan: nonsense- fun, silly, romantic- children=moral alternative to adult corruption, freudian- acceptance personality can be broken down into. Id: wants pleasure and wants it (the cat represents it, subconscious, superego, ex. Internality society rules: makes the conscious decision making, represents the narrator. Horizontal movement with the cat coming in and out associated with one part of the adventure that the child narrator rejects (thing 1 and 2) The cat converts to law and order at the end when he gathers up everything. The cat brings fun at the end and kids support it. Things and 1 and 2 and children/animals portrayed in this story. No decision making by the kids in the beginning, the cat has all the power he proposes what happens. Return of order empowers the children (at the end of the story)
