Home meaning is different in orphan girl from orphan boy. For anne, she faced adventure already in the past and the story starts when her adventure is about to end. Peter pan : children had security because they already had home. For anne, she did not have home that she had to make home (like harry) In the opening chapter, we see how orphans are seen and how they are treated. From rachel, it was terrible b/c it is so unexpectable about orphans (no ideas about orphan"s history, etc) If you know more about the family, you can predict what kind of the child would be. Purpose of adopting = work that a child can provide.
