You will be given 5 passages from diferent poems (3 or 4 lines) and you will be asked to name the dominant metre in each eg. shakespeare"s sonnet 18. It is muliple choice (you will be given the dominant metres and you are asked to idenify which it is from the list) Examples: trochaic pentameter, iambic pentameter, anapesic tetrameter, anapesic pentameter. The passages come from poems we have already looked at: 2) poeic terms. Fill in the blank and short answer eg. what is enjambment, caesura, stanza, octave, sestet, couplet, diferent metres (the meat and potatoes of what we have learned) This secion will probably be weighted more in terms of marks. You will have the whole class on tuesday to write the test (though it probably won"t take you that long) Review: the elegy has a certain type of movement to it .
