In hp: prejudice and exclusion is evil, inclusion and diversity are good. Someone you thought was good turns out to be bad all along (or vice versa) Thought snape was bad guy but he was always good. Thought sirius black was bad but was good. Thought quirrell was good but he was bad. Melodrama is predictable once you know who is good and who is bad, you know the good will win. More unpredictability in where the story is going to go more subtle. Liesel is a character that we need to look at in a complex way.
