Solid waste categories: municipal solid waste (msw, oil sands, livestock manure, mine waste rock, mine tailings. Incineration: burning garbage to reduce quantity however this creates ghg but can also be used as energy, diverting waste trying harder to recycle and compost to divert waste from landfills. Environmental concerns: air pollution, leachate contaminated water coming out of landfills, changes in chemical reactions during decomposition aka i degradable things not being bio degradable. Life cycle analysis: how much energy do we take to make plastic vs. to break it down, looks at environmental impacts across every aspect of a products development and transportation. Recyclable: plastic can be recycled to make energy, must be clean plastic, not mixed.
