Geography 1400F/G Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Centimorgan, Distance Decay, Thematic Map
Document Summary
Lecture 2; the world in spatial terms human geographic concepts. Ideas from last week (cid:498)everywhere is different(cid:499) i. e. there is spatial variations across all space. No two spaces are the same and as individuals we have different experiences of place. Geography is concerned with the study of how observable spatial patterns evolved through time: how spaces vary and how that has changed over time. Need to establish facts (geography literacy: which places exist and what exists in those places most danger? the challenges in those places. How the climate has changed over the years and which places are experiencing the: ex. global warming how global world will be changing geographically. Need to know what space is: location, place, others. Ideas diffusion from place to place: absolute (objective): heart of mapmaking and spatial analysis. It does not change once we have the boundary it is there forever. Can explain it objectively does not change from time to time.
