Region and regionalism are different things nothing to do with eachother regionalism is what region experiences. Lots of ppl don"t consider ontario a region. Differenences is what regional geographers make regions. Fiscal: give fed gov money and they decide how to allocate money. Equalization gi(cid:448)e (cid:373)o(cid:374)ey to pro(cid:448)i(cid:374)(cid:272)es that are(cid:374)"t doing economically well - handout: cultural. Regional discontent: regional discontentment must be mobilized. Ontario as region-state: o(cid:374)tario is (cid:373)ore tha(cid:374) a heart la(cid:374)d it"s a regio(cid:374)-state. Southern ontario goes past its physical boarders: globalization, move to an information economy. Outwardly/internationally oriented economy (great lakes economy: all of the stuff we do is for export. Government and policy activity to develop that economy.
