British colonies in the americas were inhibited from producing anything they had to export any small scale manufactures. Sugar was exported raw to europe processed there and reimported to caribbean inhibited scientific education: no math or science te(cid:272)h(cid:374)olog(cid:455) o(cid:396) e(cid:374)gi(cid:374)ee(cid:396)i(cid:374)g et(cid:272). it was for europe to do. Very few universities well into the 20th c and virtually no focus on the stem science technology: = limited innovation + investment in research.
