Space stations: salyut (1971-1988: first space station military purposes, mental/physical impacts of space flight. Lack of military value converted to research: radiation, diet, exercise, eva, repairs, docking, military missions - (cid:858)op (cid:859) vs. June 1974 january 1975: military (ops 2, 2 crews - 3 cosmonauts successful, military high-altitude photography, tested aircraft cannon, space gun. Intentionally de-orbited: point satellite to where they want to shoot, used to shoot down old satellite, then guns were outlawed in space, only known space craft to space craft weaponry. Salyut 4-7: used for science, used to promote cooperation, with other soviet countries. Lem (moon lander) attached to the station telescope: used as power source, 3 crews visited it, damaged during launch, never full success, de-orbited in 1979.
