The discovery was important bc they were plants that turned sunlight into oxygen, building block for aquatic life. Mice eat loopin, gophers enrich the plant by moving the ash, helping new plants to grow and spread. Gopher turned the soil and they also help salamanders, underground tunnel systems for other animals. Volcano woke up, mantle started spewing black ash and steam. Solid blocks of rock moving onto the ground, spines of solid lava emerges causing drumbeats.
