Document Summary

Slide 13 (experimental growth of stream network): major thing about drainage networks is they have a density which is speciic to a speciic condiion of the landscape. That density of network deines the characterisitcs of the landscape. The network density is determined by several factors, you can show this experimentally on a small scale. If we have a sandbox about the size of this room, they have ilt to it which is land surface and if we ariiclaly drian on surface, we have downstream end. If you make surface erodible, there will be formaion of channel network even at small scale. These images are real results fo experiments like that. The channel that extends headward (starts at downstream end and channel extends to drinaage basin) is irst picture. Theres belt on outside where no channels form this is no erosion length on hillslope.
