War comes to civilians (bombing of military more than civilians though but still much closer to home which was not typical) Increasing pressures on workers (longer hours for less pay and this only gets worse) Hindenberg plan (allows for conscription of the workforce including women, confiscation of livestocks) Most of this pressure will affect women because they are the ones at home (work, rations and family children and parents) By british navy (aug. 1914 june 1919) Germany imports a lot of food and this blockade hurts them. Hunger winter (1916-1917) really all there was to eat is turnips, potatoes production is low and then diseased. 800,000+ as a result of the starvation because of the blockade. Makes civilians feel that their sacrifice is for their country. Whoever wins will be hurt by war and so for looser it will be catastrophic. Governments taking control of information (no critiztime of war) Trying to keep civilians happy^ don"t want strikes and unhappiness.
