Document Summary

In my opinion the revolution is very controversial and although political conditions in france were drastically alter and the process of changing france was sped along there was a large amount of violence that could have been avoided. Ultimately my belief is that the revolution resulted in more harm than good. However there are both benefits and pitfalls in all aspects of the revolution. The pitfalls can be seen both by looking at the violence that took place during the revolution and the conditions in france in 1799 after the revolution ended and the terror died down. This period saw the rise of prices leading to the lower class suffering just as much as it had before the revolution in 1789. It also saw more violence as the new leaders unleashed the white terror, which was the killing of ex-jacobins. This illustrates that all people were still not equal as the government was attempting to eliminate certain members of society.
