The communists that seized control were a small sect that wanted to get rid of capitalism: the communist state that was established made all large and small businesses nationalized. After the revolution, peasants had taken over the lands that had previously been held by landowners: the state slowly took control of the land which led to mass starvation. The regime did its best to limit religion. Power struggles were used to determine who would rule: turns out is wasn"t as democratic has they had people believe. Non-aggressive treaty was signed with nazi germany before wwii: this was ignored by the nazi. The soviet union was the head of an empire and coalition against the west. Why was the czarist regime in trouble: the fact that it fell was not surprising as it was struggling. Surprising that the bolsheviks seized power when they did: no one would have thought that they would have worked.
