Ea(cid:272)h had their own unique style: would play either funk or soul, try to isolate the breaks sources included jazz, disco, rock n roll, kool herc would sample the music with two turntables. One he would move with his hand either with the beat of the other, or against it. Was turned the turntable into an instrument itself. The trickster would meet any challenge with no remorse, aggressive bad men who would do whatever they needed to. African communities, but survived in the prisons: rap became a form of cultural survival, covert resistance, the prisons were disproportionately full of african americans. The trickster toasting tradition survived there: many criminals in the jails were incarcerated for violent crimes. They felt they could relate with the trickster character: hustlers convention took the trickster prison toasts and turned them into music. Gave a gritty des(cid:272)riptio(cid:374) of the priso(cid:374) life.
