From this industrilization/ urbanization came a lot of social problems: poverty, overcrowding (slums, addictions, crime. All of these issues were created out of sex and sexuality. The working class and immigrants were seen to be morally inferior and that the problems of the (cid:272)it(cid:455) (cid:449)ere reall(cid:455) their fault the(cid:455) caused these problems. These attitudes (cid:449)as part of the euge(cid:374)i(cid:272)s (cid:373)o(cid:448)e(cid:373)e(cid:374)t (cid:894)euge(cid:374)i(cid:272)s= sur(cid:448)i(cid:448)al of the fittest (cid:895) Belief that the fittest people would be the ones who would survive. If you didn"t survive it probably meant that you were not fit and would wither away. Not just physically fit: morally, financially, psychologically fit-> these people were seen as more valuable. White middle class people were generally seen as physically, morally and mentally fit while the working class and immigrants were seen as inferior. Easier to blame this group of people rather than the industrial capitalists.
