It is time to close the book on infectious diseases, and declare the war against pestilence won . Attributed to us surgeon general dr. william h. stewart. No evidence that he said it no one is sure where it came from. Don"t panic over exhausting diseases but those that are preventable: cancer, chronic diseases, etc. The closest thing related to it however is: A decline in the interest in infectious diseases and increase in concern with non-infectious diseases has resulted from the change in relative importance of these categories of disease in many parts of the world, including the united states. Although major tasks still remain in the improvement of control over the infectious diseases, chronic diseases now constitute the predominant health problems in this country . Easier to transport info to other countries. Not as many deaths as great diseases. We still latch onto to strange practices and blame certain groups: ex. Attacked the poor as spreading the disease.
