Individual freedom versus control by the majority. Gender: inequality and the bene ts that women have in this unique society. It was not created for economics reason. It is a place of refuge, religious refugees found their new homes here. The puritans believe that the protestant church in england is not pure enough. That it has too much catholic in uence within it. They want to purify the church of england. Stand for social and political issues - believe that the church of england is corrupt from within. They are looking at england in the early 1600s and don"t like what they are seeing. They don"t like the fact that england is modernizing and that the economy is shifting to industrialization.
