Marxist model, often assumed is simply entirely insufficient. Aristocracy -> middle class -> working class (this is wrong) Property: includes people, yourself, what you do, livestock, inherited rights (right to collect taxes) Estate: legal realities (ex: nobilities includes all the nobles who bought their rank and poor nobles) Capitalist: person who owns money and lends it to crown, war profiteer. Officer: someone who works for state and owns for a piece of property. Farmer: someone who pays rent; tax farmers -> give money to government for right to collect money. Peasant: someone who lives in country, doesn"t matter what their social status is. Bourgeois: someone who lives in town, social status doesn"t matter. Indenture: skilled worker; lawyer, doctor; had to sign contract. Church: controls all education throughout europe, all forms of public relief (charity), collects taxes from everyone for public relief.
