Lecture 16 Part 3 – Canadian Economy During WWII  Internal Economy during WWII o Federal Government takes control of everything, same as WWI o Everything was brought under official regulations o Private industry encouraged to produce and expand for war production  Aircraft frames, ships, tanks, cars, shells, etc.  Much greater than WWI  Canada didn’t have the threat of being attacked, made sense to build them here o Canadian scientists worked closely with the governments to the creation of radar and new explosives, including the Manhattan Project (atomic bomb)  Mining of uranium in Canada o War brings prosperity to Canada since they are not being attacked; war stops the Depression in Canada o Canada smarter in terms of food production  Encouraged Prairies to diversify th
