Lecture 17 Part 1 – Newfoundland and Canada Newfoundland after WWI  Commission Government o 6 commissioners: 3 from Britain and 3 from Newfoundland, all appointed by the Crown  Economy good during the war because of war time production  When the war was over and Newfoundland was back to being a colony, Newfoundlanders wondered how much longer they were going to be a colony  National Convention set up to talk about what is going to happen with Newfoundland’s government o Three choices:  1. Remain a colony of Britain  2.
