Political economy perspective is concerned with elucidating the political and economic structures that shape how poverty and resources are distributed in a given society. Political economy perspective on health is concerned with how political and economic structures of society affect: social inequalities, social inclusion/exclusion, distribution of resources, health inequalities. Welfare state social safety net, includes policies that are aimed to reduce social inequalities. Keynesian economics and the welfare state market (cid:449)ill (cid:374)ot adjust o(cid:374) it"s o(cid:449)(cid:374) to create full employment and the government must intervene. In capitalist societies, the state has a contradictory role! There are 3 general types of welfare states: Canada) do(cid:374)"t de(cid:272)o(cid:373)odify (cid:272)itize(cid:374)s, replies (cid:373)ai(cid:374)ly o(cid:374) the market to distribute goods/services, modest spending on social programs, will never be removed from having to be dependent on the market.
