Has 2 divisions: sympathetic and parasympathetic: parasympathetic: in control when you are relaxed, aids in digestion, string energy, and growth promotion, sympathetic: activated during arousal and emergency situations (pain, anger, fear, exercise) Releases norepinephrine which commands the body to use up its energy to respond to crisis and causes arousal. Norepinephrine: increased alertness and attention when released in the brain. System of glands, tissues, and cells that help control body function by releasing hormones and other chemical messengers to the blood stream. Helps prepare the body to respond to a stressor.
