Look sad, unhappy, withdrawn, don"t enjoy things, disturbances in sleep and eating patterns. Not wanting to get out of bed, eat, go to school. Consistent and persistent change in child"s behaviour - minimum daily for two weeks or more. What hasn"t: antidepressants can be used to treat depression, talk therapy only and taking medication has been shown to work, only using antidepressants has been shown to be ineffective, can have serious side effects. They are not to be mixed with alcohol: what makes it challenging to treat youth with depression in particular, difficult to differentiate normal teenage mood swings and symptoms of depression. Stigma: a set of negative and often unfair beliefs that a society or group of people have about something. Myths: people who really intend to kill themselves don"t want anyone to know about it. Important to be alert for signs in the people you know.
