HealthSci Lecture Review Notes Team Shan Presentation – Guest Speaker on Breast Cancer  7000 diagnosed with cancer between ages 15-39 in Canada o 3000 diagnosed in Ontario  Over 900 young women (15-39) diagnosed with breast cancer in Canada o Over 100 die in Canada o 400 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Ontario  60 of them die in Ontario  Breast cancer does not always begin as a lump (although, it usually does) o Most lumps are not cancerous  Cancer in young adults is more aggressive (spreads more quickly) due to hormonal activity  Breast cancer typically spreads to the bones, lungs, brain, and liver  1% of breast cancer cases are male  Risk factors of breast cancer: o Born in North America
