It is the #1 health concern for youths. How to engage in helping mental health: Encompasses the mental (thinking), emotional (feeling), social (relating) and spiritual (being) dimensions of health. Determined on the basis of symptoms alone. Advanced a hierarchy of needs in order of urgency. When urgent needs are satisfied, less urgent needs take priority. Those who make it to the top of the needs hierarchy achieve self-actualization. Realism: being realistic of what you can and cannot control. Autonomy: can direct ourselves, and being independent. Capacity for intimacy: physical and emotional intimacy.
