Unit 2 note models & theories for health promotion and disease prevention. We"re following a specific plan to getting the chances. Program planning is the key to successful health promotion. Models in hp: provide a vehicle for applying theories framework/map, we have this understanding from the theories but then we need some sort of structure to apply it. How models &theories work together for successful hp programs: theories provide insights & directions, ex. Students & readings; dog & jumping through a hoop: there has to be an understanding of motivations to get these things to happen, models then give steps to actually initiate change, ex. Dog trainer = model : a model not grounded in theory is generally unsuccessful, ex. Having a health program to help people with changing behaviour but it has no grounding in the theory of behaviour change, it"s not going to be successful. We have to have an idea of what makes people tick.
