Analyzes older adults who remain in the workforce over the last few decades. The youngest men are the ones who have the highest labour force participation in comparison to all of the other groups. Slight dip, and then a rise in labour force participation among the 65-69 age group. Some of the labour that we perform is less physically intensive and strenuous makes it easier to remain in the labour force. Also due to the increasing life expectancy in older adults. There is also a decline in organizations that have a pension they can"t afford to retire. It is illegal for someone to fire you or not employ you because of your age. Only have mandatory retirement age in jobs where age is linked w/ performers. You can focus on issues of self-efficacy. A process doesn"t just occur abruptly. Anticipatory period waiting to retire and thinking about retiring (can last for decades) Decision to retire make the decision to retire.
