Kinesiology 2241A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 13: Gluteus Minimus Muscle, Iliofemoral Ligament, Transverse Plane
Document Summary
The glenoid fossa is part of the scapula. But the scapula moves quite a lot with respect to the torso. The motion of the clavicle (aka collar bone) is tied to the scapular motion. Shoulder girdle motion is the combination of 2 joints: sterno- clavicular joint, scapulo- thoracic joint, clavicle always under compression and pushing outward. The elbow: the elbow is the articulation of the distal humerus with the proximal ends of the radius and ulna (of the forearm) Stabilizers of the elbow: the elbow is primarily stabilized via its ligaments: the radial collateral, the ulnar collateral, the annular ligament and the interosseus member. The carpal tunnel: the carpal bones form an arch in cross section with a tunnel on the palmar side. Carpal tunnel: many tendons (from the forearm), blood vessels and nerves pass through this small tunnel, any inflammation of these structures will cause an increase in tunnel pressure, occlusion of blood flow, pain and numbness.
