Steri-strips and butterfly bandages are effective for superficial and partial thickness injuries where opposing epidermal edges can be brought together: also helpful when the cut is on an area that moves all the time (ex. knuckle or elbow) Full thickness injuries can be sutured a long as the two sides can be approximated (8 hours max) Can be categorized by size: petechiae (< 3mm) & ecchymosis (> 3 mm: petechiae- can be contagious and must investigate if there has been no trauma.
