Control vs. dysmelic (right)- brain from person in last picture from above. Mapped out the extent of m1 devoted to hand representation- how much area on m1 is devoted to hand. Control- mapped out distance between neurons active when wiggling thumb and pinky finger- expansive area of m1 dedicated to hand representation (cortiomagnification) They do not have as much m1 cortex devoted to the hand. Elegant demonstration of m1 plasticity- decreased amount of cortex for hand.
