Kinesiology 1080A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 16: Muscle Contraction, Executive Functions, Prefrontal Cortex
Document Summary
Mon, feb. 25/19 lecture 16: henneman principle, pro. In controls: saccade requires very little cortical activity in comparison to antisaccade. Increased level of cortical activity for both pro and antisaccades: hyperactive brains prevents normal response suppression, they have poor response suppression. Study: brothers and sisters of those who had schizophrenia had more mistakes than other siblings of those who did not have schizophrenia, genetic errors, antisaccade tests can be used to identify those at risk for schizophrenia. Synesthesia: occurs when people blend together their senses, associating two senses together, areas of the brain and talking together and between each other to associate the various senses. 2: double stimulus cues which allow them to form better memories. Saccade reaction (western video: the person who draws first loses, voluntarily decide to move is an executive functioning, movement takes longer, however, when we react to others moving a simple retinotectal pathway is activated the individual moves faster.
