Rods:
• Photoelectric cell that is achromatic, equally dispersed about the retina
• Low spatial resolution
• Respond to low light levels
• Provides night vision
• Equally dispersed, not tightly packed
Cones;
Chromatic and focused in foveal vision
• High spatial resolution
• Do not operate in low light areas
• Nursing homes need to be well lit to have more activation in the cone cells as opposed to the rod cells
