Document Summary

Function in visual object recognition and is the location of the hippocampus. Contains primary auditory cortex and this cortex is mostly lateralized in most people in the left hemisphere and also plays a highly important role in visual object recognition. Visual agnosia is a type of deficit where people forget what something looks like so you could put an apple right in front of them and they would have no idea what it is. Hippocampus is really important in spatial navigation as well as the consolidation of the short to long term memories. Neurogenesis is the development of new synaptic connections in the brain so basically new memories so all new memories are assisted by hippocampus neurogenesis. One of the earliest problem with alzheimer"s is they have a deteriorating hippocampus and it destroys the place neurons so they get lost very easily and cant find where they are.
