Muscles innervated by same nerve have the same function. Once we know function we can know where it attaches. Every muscle has a primary function, this is what we need to know, not a list of possible functions. Arbitrary named after other languages and shit, (eg. sartorius muscle crosses legs, a sartor crosses his legs while hemming pants. Objectives: identify muscular components: muscles of facial expression, chewing muscles, muscles of tongue eye and throat, anterior and posterior neck muscles. Within each compartment identify: muscular attachment, common nerve supply, muscle function. Muscles of facial expression these muscles attach to skin, fascia, and sometimes bone. Common nerve supply is from cranial nerve vii (7). In center of occipitofrontalis muscles (frontalis and occipitalis) Frontalis (frontal belly) front of epicranius (contract to raise eyebrows) Occipitalis (occipital belly) back of epicranius (contract to pull back epicranius. ) Orbicularis oculi circular, has bony attachment. Zygomatic muscles (major and minor) origin is zygomatic process.
