Identify active bleeding: early recognition of facial asymmetry before swelling increases. Inspect nasal septum, ear for hematomas: look for signs of fracture (orbital, zygomatic, jaw, midface, etc. , assess mouth opening/ closing. If difficulty opening or severe pain along lateral aspects of cheek consider mandible, zygomatic fracture. If asymmetry with closing consider mandible, maxilla or palate fracture: assess oral cavity. Infraorbital nerve entrapment: numbness in check, side of nose, upper lip and ipsilateral teeth due to injury to the infraorbital nerve, care .
