22 November 2012 The Wheel Truth: Run Lola Run 1. Form - We know more about the text than the characters do - We are watching and we are being watched - Circling shots: there’s a text inside a text - Extreme close ups: intimate conversations - Also wipes out our memory that we are waiting the film and brings us into it 2. Games - Seeing al simultaneously - Power? No. - The characters see each other – we see the clock - Form and content are locked together - Make fun of philosophical non-sense – Just a game - The opening: launches all the characters, the people who are the characters are playing the narrative in our daily lives - Roulette: the way we live our lives: metaphor - The idea that the die is cast - Always reference to death - Chance: everything is random but there is always a winner and a loser - There is always a cause: dominoes - Complication of three things: dominoes (chance) cause of effect, telephone in the air, round: the dial of the clock, clock is important because it governs the time for the game to run out therefore the telephone is like a roulette game because it is round like the telephone - Can’t make any bets when the game is in play - Game of life = game of chance - Looking at the gamblers, the clock and a portrait 3.
