Airport organisation: until early 90s airports were owned and subsidised by the government to the tune of million a year through transport canada. Icao works to reduce exposure to aircraft noise by creating noise standards. Standardised departures: the icao has developed two for transport aircraft to fly, nadp 1 is a steeper departure used to mitigate noise closer to the airport, nadp 2 is a more normal departure commonly used in north america. Canadian airports council: created in 1992 to lobby government on issues related to airports, open skies agreements, airport lease rates. Cabotage: air service between two points in a foreign city, only generally seen in pro sports, code sharing is a method to get around this rule. Airport costs: rent, payments in lieu of property tax, debt service, a new runway costs million in calgary. Airport composition: maneuvering area where planes takeoff, and taxi, movement area where planes park.
