Personality: refers to the structures and propensities inside people that explain their characteristic pattern of thought, emotion, and behaviour. Personality creates peoples social reputations- the way they are percieved by friends, family, etc. collection of multiple traits. Traits: recurring regularities or trends in people"s reponses to their environment. Cultural values: shared beliefs about desirable end states or modes of conduct in a given culture. Cultural values can influence the development of people"s personality traits. As well as how those traits are expressed in daily lives. Ability: relatively stable capabilities people have to perform a particlar range of different but related activities. Skill can be improved overtime with training and experience, ability is relatively stable. We can use personality traits and cultural values to describe what employees are like. Childhood conscientiousness strongly correlated with ratings of career: childhood conscientiousness was negatively related to morality, death from injuries, cardio diseas, and cancer. (less smoking and alcohol, drugs)
