The point of ideology critique is to ask questions about things that seem to be. Ideas about what constitutes normalcy and moral, political, social absolutes find expression through entertainment and popular culture. Complex things that become embedded and thus useful in the functioning of any society. Ex: have changed the idea of black skinned people being animalistic and non-human. The process of ideology critique and pulling oneself from its influence is not at all simple, it is one we want to resist as we do not want our beliefs challenged. More comfortable for our beliefs to be maintained in a stable place and to act in accordance with such beliefs (seen as natural) Psycho-analytic philosopher and culture critic, zizek, uses film to express the idea of ideology.
