The structure is obscured or hidden and can only be unearthed through a specialized analysis. To structuralism, a structure without a center, we are not at all: these systems in which we are embedded are what determine us. A way of thinking about binary oppositions: he believes they structure western thought. A binary opposition is at the heart of most intellectual endeavors. He calls the history of western thought metaphysics. For him the binary opposite is always find at the heart of a metaphysical project.
