Concussion: acceleration deceleration force, skull like a hard vault, females are more susceptible to long term effects of concussions. Lindros donating money to institutes to bring awareness. Explain it to me: concussions: rest- important for first 24-48 hours, then start picking it up, brain goes back and forth and stretches out- what causes concussion. Salient points about concussion: don"t always lose consciousness. Symptoms: grouped into 4 categories, physical, cognitive, emotional, sleep. Signs and symptoms of sports-related concussion (weinberger & briskin, 2013: seem to be most common, headache, balance, nervousness, sleeping more than usual, sleeping less than usual. Why might and individual not report symptoms: do not want to be restricted from playing, do not want to look like a wimp, do not recognize it as a concussion. Why might you not report symptoms: do not know the significance or extent of injury, even if it is a minor head injury, they should not play.
