Document Summary

Objective - subject to other people"s individual experiences/opinions. Relative - a matter of what society needs. Different cultures have different views on morals and moral questions. God is necessary to make sense of our moral experience, we need him to live morally. Three moral arguments: without god there would be no right or wrong. Morality is a matter of commands, and with that there arises the need for a commander: without god the world would be unjust. Nothing becomes permissible or impermissible without the existence of god. Bad people occasionally thrive, and good people suffer, but we have to remember that the good will be rewarded in the end and the bad will be punished. God is there to keep balance in the universe: without god no one would have a reason/incentive to do as morality requires. Without the threat of eternal punishment or the promise of eternal reward, people wouldn"t have the incentive to live a moral life.
