Philo: love (attraction, research, seeking not just the emotion of love) Is what he is hearing knowledge: would it have made a difference if horton had seen the residences of. They cannot justify for themselves that there is civilization upon the speck because they did not hear the voices horton heard. The other animals do not believe horton about the speck because they all have very different views on the world. Rst philosophy: questions of being as such, rst causes of things, the things that don"t change. Natural theology: knowledge about gods that does not come from a revelation or text: questions about space and time, determinism, etc. They are real to horton because he can see them. Horton feels sense of duty towards the speck and its civilians, but along with that, his disposition is telling him to save the who"s. Small/tiny = cute: we feel an obligation to save and care for things that are more beautiful.
