Philosophy 2073F/G Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Anomic Aphasia, Headache, Egg Cell
Document Summary
Since the mid-term, we"ve been focused on trying to identify the foundation of the general human interest in (preoccupation with?) death, given its final" nature. Last week, we started to investigate the last element of our analysis of death", i. e. , trying to explain why it is widely believed that bringing about the death of another person is morally wrong. The primary means by which we will conduct that inquiry is by considering exceptional cases, i. e. , abortion and euthanasia: these exceptional cases most people don"t die by abortion or euthanasia. The idea behind this approach is one that is frequently adopted as a means of engaging in a philosophical investigation : abortion and euthanasia are outlier killings. If they don"t have the right, they are not doing anything wrong: rights are correlational terms with rights come obligations. We know that it is wrong but why . Marquis in normal cases, abortion represents a severe moral wrong.
