They may be making story decisions quickly, but they are making them within some framework to please their advertisers. Noam chomsky is not an elitist, he is under the belief that most humans have an impressive ability to think creatively and recognize a propaganda machine, but they don"t. The powers are trying to convince the educated class that they could be one of the powerful, or part of the propaganda machine. Chomsky"s future society states that any inequality, characterized by one group dominating another group, needs to be justifiable (parents vs. children) Two principles of democracy: democracy is the rule of the people who are governed, democracy is the rule of the people who are tricking the people who think they are making their own choices. The wealthy and those who control resources control the news and western society. A good propaganda machine doesn"t look like a propaganda machine, it back handedly supports the stories it is about.
