Marx doesn"t like capitalist societies - thinks they"re problematic. Argues that anytime you labour, you are estranged. He describes 4 types of estranged labour: alienation. They"re estranged: so there"s 4 different types of this estrangement. Estrangement: the worker is alienated from the product of labour. You"re alienated from the very product you"re involved with (the pin or the apple) Alien object that has power over him/her: one is alienated from the act of production within labour, one is alienated from ones species life, one is alienated from the other. Marx starts off by talking about division of labour, he starts with. Property owners and property less workers: society (19th century britain) is one where we have 2 fundamental classes. Property class and property less class: marx is worried about the property less class and want to say that the workers sink to the level of a commodity which the property class monopolizes.
